I'm happy. I'm excited.

Hi Reader,

I hope this finds you well. I have some happy news that I'm excited to share. But before I do, I want to acknowledge that there's a lot going on in the world and in each of your lives that may be stressful or creates fear and even pain.

I'm reminded often of Joseph Campbell's invocation:

"Participate joyfully in the sorrows of the world. We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy. The warrior's approach is to say 'yes' to life..."

I can remember first hearing this about 30 years ago. At that time, all I could say was, "spoken like someone who's never known sorrow."

I'd lived a life that felt very sorrowful. Yes, there were also temporary oases of calm, peace, even happiness. But those felt far more ephemeral than the sorrows. The sorrows felt permanent, deep, and woven into the fabric of my life. Decades of loss, unsafe homes, and a general sense of being unmoored from my self and any good reason to exist.

Quite synchronistically, this pattern matches a number of elements in my Human Design. This doesn't change how they felt but it does help me make sense of and find meaning in those decades.

At the time that I was introduced to Campbell's work, I was awakening to the possibility that life did have meaning and that it could even be happy — not just wisps of happiness that evaporated as inexplicably as they came – genuine and lasting happiness. I was beginning my own heroine's journey to find what I imagined to be enlightenment. That space of equanimity, impenetrability, and wisdom from which I could observe life but not be penetrated by it.

Turns out, that's not actually the path to living in joy.

I now have my own awareness of what participating joyfully in the sorrows of the world means. I have my own understanding of what it means to be a warrior, deepened and refined by the work of Angeles Arrien and her Four-Fold Way. Ripened by my lived experiences.

Saying "yes" to life is that space of being willing to see life, to hear, taste, smell, touch, and even be turned upside down by it. It's the willingness to be pushed to the ground, face in the dirt, scraped and bruised, and yet, retain a love of life, and even more essentially, of myself.

My body, heart, and mind now know that life isn't here to make it possible for me to be impenetrable. I'm not here to be impervious and unmovable. Wisdom isn't in figuring out how to avoid the sorrows of the world. It's not even in curing them. Choosing to live in joy is saying yes to the fullness of the truth of who I am. The happy, the sad, the hopeful, and the helpless.

So why am I happy and excited today?

As you know, I was introduced to Human Design a little over 5 years ago. At first, I felt surprised by what it revealed and what I recognized as true for me. I also was wary that this might be some weird cult thing, LOL. So, I studied and learned, and even more importantly, I experimented and observed for myself what it had to offer. It's held up as a specific and useful map for understanding the self and as a compass for navigating ordinary reality. There was one thing I found indigestible though. And, it wasn't anything I could test for myself. At least not then.

The founder of Human Design shared, among many things, that there is something described as a Global Background Frequency. It's not a new idea. For example, people have been singing and talking about the Age of Aquarius for as long as I can remember. What was striking about this theory was that the shift, based on the precession of the equinox, would bring a collapse of society as we know it. He painted a pretty bleak and scary picture. Now, I've been around long enough to have heard more than one of these 'the world is ending' stories. And, historically, there are many eras where humans believed it would be their last. Mostly though, his negative view was off-putting to me. So, I set that bit aside until I understood enough to digest it, and either reject it or find a way to be nourished by it.

My education, training, and personal results have revived my interest in this aspect of Human Design. Especially because the shift is predicted to take place in February, 2027. I don't resonate with the dire tone of the founder's prediction and he's been gone for quite some time now, so it doesn't feel particularly relevant.

On the other hand, there is a unique unraveling of social contracts and institutions today. It seems clear that the energetic ecosystem within which we are living is undergoing a deep and permanent change. The question I asked myself was, 'is there something in this map of Human Design that can help make sense of and find meaning in this?'

The answer to that question is what I'm happy and excited about. In my search, I discovered realizations and narratives encoded in this global frequency shift information that are relevant to the conditions of the world. I've found an empowering path to explore and share. And so, I'm launching a new podcast called Awakening the Phoenix in the new Human Design era. It starts on Monday, October 5 on both Youtube and Spotify. If this calls to you, keep a lookout for an email on the 5th with links to both platforms, with additional options emerging in the days following.

For now, if you have questions about your Human Design, this changing era, or life in general, reach out. I'm here.

Saying yes to life,

Zette
